He is also part of the First Alert Storm Team, where he provides the up-to-date and most accurate information about severe weather in Oklahoma. He began as a backup pilot at KOCO 5.

Rutledge has worked for the Oklahoma National Guard for 26 years, 20 of them as a full-time Army pilot and Instructor. He retired from the National Guard on March 31, 2018, and assumed the position of a full-time chief pilot. Rutledge has worked overseas and has gone on countless missions around Oklahoma State in support of Homeland Security, disaster relief, the war on terrorism, and many others.

Rutledge has been passionate about piloting since he was 6 years old. He has always been focused on his dream and he has never changed his dream or stopped pursuing that dream. After moving from college, he went to continue with flight training with the United States Army. He says that all the flight training prepared him for what he calls his “dream job” at KOCO 5. During his leisure, he likes spending time with his family and friends, hiking, exploring the world, camping, or skiing. He is also an avid wood-turner.
