Prior to joining WCVB, she worked for KPNX-TV in Phoenix, Arizona as a news anchor for almost 3 years. Before that, he hosted “The Doug Meehan Show” on WTKK 96.9 FM in Boston for 2 years.
He also served at The Wall Street Journal Radio Network in New York as a contributor. Prior to those roles, Meehan had a successful career as an anchor/reporter at WFXT-TV in Boston, Massachusetts for over 6 and a half years. He was known for being the 1st full-time helicopter reporter in the market, reporting on breaking and traffic news.
Before going to WFTX, Meehan worked at WHDH-TV in Boston as a reporter and relief anchor. Prior to that, he had an extensive career in various roles at different TV stations. For 6 years, he worked on “Good Morning Texas” at WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas as a host/anchor. He also worked as an anchor at WTSP-TV in Tampa, Florida, and as a reporter at KEYE-TV in Austin and KTVT-TV in Dallas, Texas.
Before leaving New England, Meehan was a news, weather, and sports anchor at WPRI-TV in Providence, RI. Earlier in his career, he worked as a reporter at New England Cable News. He started his journey in the news industry as a reporter/anchor at Cape 11 News in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. In the year 2006, Meehan received special recognition from Boston Magazine as among Boston’s “The Fabulous 40.” He was also proud to complete the 110th running of the Boston Marathon in the same year. Meehan has worked as a ferry boat captain.
Doug Meehan Cancer / Health Update
In March 2023, Meehan had some good news to share about his fight against prostate cancer which he was diagnosed with in the year 2021. He posted on his Twitter that he had a successful surgery, and was now recovering in the hospital room. Meehan expressed his gratitude, saying that the prayers from everyone had been effective. The surgeon was able to preserve most of the nerve endings, and the prostate was removed, hopefully taking the cancer with it.
