Napier shared her past illness in her memoir and talked to PEOPLE about it that year. She described the difficult 10 years, with health problems starting at the age of 19. Initially, it was a day of stomach pain and fever, but then it got worse after marrying Ben in the year 2008. Episodes extended to 2 or 3 days, with the worst lasting a week. After various medical opinions, an emergency surgery revealed her organs were fused due to a rare condition: a repeatedly bursting appendix. The appendix was successfully removed, solving the physical problem but leaving emotional scars.
