Andrews says that Texas is his perfect place to live since the people are super friendly, the winters are mild, and his clothing bill will be significantly lower. Before joining the station, he was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin working for WISN-TV (an ABC affiliate). He spent 3 years there working as a Meteorologist. That is where he began his TV career. While at WISN, he got an opportunity to travel to New England, where winter is only 20ºC below, but the snowfall can be 7 feet.

Before that, he was working for an NBC/CW+-affiliated station in Springfield, Massachusetts, WWLP-TV. There he spent a decade also as a meteorologist. He says that Massachusetts had beautiful weather and the people were friendly, but way too much snow. During his collegiate years, he was interning at a local television station for 2 years, whereby he got no payment. During his leisure, he likes having good wine, gardening, playing racquetball, or gourmet cooking.
