Vang is a proud alumnus of California State University-Sacramento, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She serves at KNTV – NBC Bay Area as a weekend evening news co-anchor, alongside Terry McSweeney. She appears on the 5 PM, 6 PM, and 11 PM newscasts. In addition to her role at KNTV, Vang serves as a weekday evening correspondent based in San Francisco, California.
Prior to joining KNTV, Vang was a News Anchor at KARE 11 in Greater Minneapolis for three years and four months, from June 2019 to September 2022. She also worked as a News Anchor at KMPH FOX 26 / KFRE CW 59 for six years and seven months, from March 2016 to September 2022. Her earlier experiences include being a Reporter at 12 News (KPNX-TV, NBC) in Phoenix, Arizona, from October 2013 to January 2016, and a Reporter at WDAF-TV from October 2011 to October 2013.
While at KARE-TV, Vang reported on some big national stories, like the Kim Potter trial, the Derek Chauvin trial, and Suni Lee’s Special Olympics. Over the years of her career, she has won an Emmy for her outstanding work as a news reporter and anchor.
Besides working for KNTV, Vang has also been the Co-Founder of The Very Asian Foundation since January 2022. She is the 1st Hmong-American news anchor in a significant media market. She started the Very Asian Foundation with Michelle Li, a famous journalist. Their foundation’s goal is to show Asian American experiences and help organizations that work with the AAPI community.
