Before that, he was the Chief Meteorologist at FOX 21 KQDS-DT in Duluth, Minnesota, from January 2015 to December 2017. He served as a Weather Forecaster for WGN-TV in Chicago for a year in 2013-2014. At Fast Track in West Lafayette, IN, he held roles as a Broadcast Journalist and Meteorologist from 2013 to 2014.
He was also President of the Purdue Forecasting Club and worked as a Winter Weather Meteorologist for the Ground & Sanitation Department of Purdue University, as well as the Indiana Department of Transportation from 2012 to 2014. Additionally, Recchia was a Meteorologist at WBAA in West Lafayette from 2010 to 2014 and a Weather Forecaster for Storm Central in Chicago from 2011 to 2013.
Throughout his career, he has reported on many weather stories like the historic largest snowstorm (that was 2 feet!), severe thunderstorms, and wall-to-wall tornados. Recchia holds 2 regional Emmy Awards, which he received for his outstanding weather reporting.
Recchia has always been passionate about the weather (it all began when he was little). When he was at the age of 9, he witnessed a thunderstorm from inside his parents’ house and he says that he found it so fascinating – that was the very 1st spark ignition of weather interest. Besides loving the weather, he is also passionate about giving back to the community. For 1 year (from June 2012 to June 2013), Recchia volunteered at Habitat for Humanity International.
