Rothenberg is working for WTVF as a meteorologist. The Memphis native is familiar with the ever-changing weather including ice storm 94 and the February 2008 Super Tuesday tornadie outbreak. When he was young, he was afraid of thunderstorms until he was 7. At the time, his cousin took outside during a storm and explained what was causing the scary noise. Since then, his fear turned into fascination.
As a junior high schooler, Rotenberg started shadowing the weather at CBS affiliate, WREG. There, he mostly shadowed Todd Demers during the morning newscast. In this role, he arrived at the station at 4:30 a.m. when his school schedule allowed. He says this experience jump-started his career.
His desire to chase storms is fueled by his passion for the weather and his want to protect people during dangerous weather. He started his on-screen career when was a junior in college hired by KMIZ. He later worked for KPLR in St. Lousi, WATN(then known as WPTY) in Memphis, and WACH in Columbia.
