Jacob Dickey Education
Dickey joined Parkland College and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011 when he finished his high school education. He studied Agriculture At Parkland till 2013.
In May 2015, Dickey graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences Education with a Secondary Teaching License. He furthered his studies at Mississippi State University(MSU) where he graduated with a Master Of Science degree in Professional Meteorology emphasizing Broadcast.
During his time at MSU, Dicket mainly focused his research on the public’s knowledge and perceptions of tornadoes to identify vulnerable population groups and create tactics to reach the public before and during severe weather.

Dickey previously worked as a weekend and field meteorologist at WCBI in Columbus, Mississippi for three years. There, he actively participated in the station’s online and social media presence, concentrating on severe weather awareness and preparation.
Dickey also storm chased in the field for WCBI during some of Mississippi’s hugest tornado outbreaks. Further, he saw numerous hurricanes and tropical storms, notably, Category 5 Hurricane Michael, Hurricane Matthew, and Hurricane Florence.
Over the past 15 years, Dickey has witnessed numerous tornadoes and severe storms all across the United States. Following his time in Columbus, Dickey moved to Southwest Oklahoma where he was a chief meteorologist at KSWO 7 News before he moved back to Central Illinois.
Dickey has held multiple internships with TV weather professionals like KOCO’s Damon Lane, ABC 33/40’s James Spann, and WCIA 3’s Derick Fabert and Jack Gerfen.
Dickey also teaches weather class at Parkland College. He volunteered as an MC for the Champaign County Farm Bureau Foundation, the Champaign, and the Urbana Park Districts. He is also a regular visitor at regional schools where he shares his passion for weather.
