It was at KXAN where she started her career as an intern and is anxious to go back to KXAN where she received her earliest experience in broadcast journalism.
With parents in the radio business, Powell’s passion for broadcasting began at an early age. At the age of 12, she hosted her own radio talk show, and while in high school she won a Robert F. Kennedy Award for humanitarian journalism and was flown to a ceremony in Washington D.C. to meet the Kennedy family.
When coming to her education, she is a proud graduate of Western Kentucky University where she studied Broadcast News and French. While on campus she served as News Director at campus radio station WWHR and also anchored television newscasts that aired on PBS. She gathered news stories for WKU’s award-winning School of Journalism & Broadcasting across the country and in Beijing, China.
Powell served as reporter and anchor for KBOI and its CW station when she moved to Boise after graduating college. She worked as a multimedia journalist for WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida not long ago. She likes adventuring to new places and doing anything and everything outdoors.
