Carfagno serves at The Weather Channel as a co-host of AMHQ (“America’s Morning Headquarters”) airing on weekdays from 5-9 a.m. ET on the station. She has covered all manner of extreme weather in her studio on tape, behind the scenes, and out in the field during her more than 20 years on the network. During blizzard warnings, she was out fighting the wind and snow, slopping in torrential and freezing floods, slipping in ice storms, and in landfalling hurricanes bracing against the wind and rain.
In 1998, he interned with The Weather Channel. She joined The Weather Channel as a full-time meteorologist later that year. Jen first enrolled in The Weather Channel on-camera meteorologist apprentice program, winning time each weekend in front of the camera. Carfagno acquired important weather expertise and experience in her full-time work from several main positions in the meteorology department, in addition to her weekend on-air duties.
Carfagno was the advisor to many other business divisions for the Meteorology Research & Strategy Department during that period. She was also the point person for the National Weather Service, the EPA AIRNow program, and other relevant government departments for the tactical operations of The Weather Channel.
For The Weather Channel, Jen created and led Weather Camps across the world and continues to talk to students about her love for science. When coming to her education, she received her bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Pennsylvania State University.
In the meteorology section, Jen started her off-camera career, developing on-air graphics, forecasting, and contributing to the automation of weather warning distribution to your pagers. She began on-air full-time as First Outlook’s Travel Analyst, and also contributed to Your Weather Today, Morning Rush, and Wake Up With Al’s flagship morning shows, and hosted Weekend View.
Jen loves hiking, playing in the pool, working in the yard, going to country music concerts, checking out the new fitness trend, or watching on the sidelines and bleachers cheering on their sports with their children in her free time. As she is sometimes referred to as the Dewpoint Diva, her favorite weather statistic is dew points. Her life-long mission is to make people realize how important they are to daily life.
