In addition to this role, he also serves as the host of the weekend editions of “Sports Central.” Prior to transitioning to journalism, he was a football player in the National Football League as a defensive back.

Hill has also received several awards and honors including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in May 2006 during a ceremony that was attended by entertainers, a Who’s Who list of Hall of Fame athletes, and government leaders. In addition to that, in 2010, he was inducted into the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Hall. He also received awards from United Press International, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Press Club, and many other organizations.

Hill started his TV career in 1976 at CBS2  serving as a sportscaster for about 11 years. He left the station and joined KABC-TV in Los Angeles where he served as a sportscaster for about four years. In March 1992, he rejoined CBS2 serving as a sportscaster. Hill went to Highlands High School in Texas where he attained his high school diploma. He, later on, joined Texas A&I where he graduated

Hill is also very active when it comes to helping out in his community. For instance, he is on the advisory board for the Boy Scouts of America and an active member of the board of directors of the Los Angeles Urban League. He is also working at the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks serving as a spokesperson. He works alongside the Department of Recreation and Parks and the Office of the Mayor in several youth sports fitness programs and youth outreach. Hill has also made appearances in several movies including Arli$$ and Rocky III.
