During the national “CBS Mornings” (previously “CBS This Morning”) broadcast, Gonzalez worked as a guest meteorologist.

Before joining CBS4, she worked for KTLA’s Prime News in Los Angeles, California as an evening weather anchor. Gonzalez has had an impressive and diverse career in entertainment and broadcasting on both the local and national levels.

She has served as a reporter and host of several nationally syndicated shows including “Livin’ Large,” “Extra en Espanol,” and “EXTRA.” She got her start while in college (MSU) where she anchored the “Primetime” and “Daybreak” Newscasts on UMTV, as well as hosted and reported for the local show “Miami Hoy”(“Miami Today”).

Gonzalez is a strong volunteer in the community. She often volunteers her time speaking to students about the weather and the essence of education. Gonzalez works with multiple organizations such as Best Buddies, Dream in Green, Women of Tomorrow,  St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Padres Brillantes, Amigos for Kids, and the American Red Cross. She is active in numerous charitable events including CBS4′s Neighbors 4 Neighbors programs.

Gonzalez together with Jeff Berardelli (CBS4 Meteorologist) worked to raise funds for Broward burn victim Michael Brewer. Gonzalez has also worked with Jeff Berardelli to host a “Strike out Cancer” event that benefits the Children’s Cancer Caring Center. She is also an active participant in events such as the Miami Corporate Run, the annual Celebrity 5K, and the Susan G. Komen Race.

Gonzalez holds the designated Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and is an active member of AMS. She is also a member of NWA – the National Weather Association and holds their TV Weathercaster Seal of Approval. Besides meteorology, Gonzalez is passionate about music. She has had the honor to sing the “God Bless America” and the National Anthem at the Sony Ericsson, Marlins, and Dolphins games, and the Heat.

The Miami New Times “Best of Miami 2013” named Gonzalez Best Meteorologist. SPJ – the Society of Professional Journalists honored Gonzalez with a “Florida Award of Excellence” for her weathercast. She was chosen as among the “Top 20 Professionals under 40″ in Brickell Magazine.

In addition, Gonzalez has been featured in “Beach Patrol: The people who make Miami” at Ocean Drive Magazine. The Dania Lions Club has honored her with the Lions Club International Medal of Merit Award for her commitment and dedication to the community.

Gonzalez is a former Miss Florida and Miss Miami. She was named 2nd runner-up to Miss America in the year 1998 and earned more than $50,000 in scholarship money that assisted her to finish her studies at the University of Miami.

She then starred as “Maria” in the Off-Broadway hit “4 Guys Named Jose and Una Mujer named Maria” in Miami and New York. Later on, she got nominated for the prestigious Carbonell Award.
