Ha-neul is a proud alumnus of Chung-Ang University, where he pursued Theatre and Film studies. While in college, he actively participated in cultural activities, grabbing the interest of directors and producers in the South Korean TV and film industry.
Ha-neul started his career in musical theatre, featuring in productions like “Assassins”, “Prince Puzzle”, “Thrill Me”, and “Black Mary Poppins”. Transitioning to television, he starred in “The Heirs”, “Misaeng: Incomplete Life”, and “To the Beautiful You”. In the year 2015, Ha-neul took on 3 films, earning several Best New Actor awards for “Twenty”. He ventured into stage acting with his debut in “Harold and Maude,” sharing the stage with veteran actress Park Jeong-ja.
In the year 2016, Ha-neul played the poet Yun Dong-ju in the biographical film Dongju, earning Best Actor nominations. He also appeared in the romantic comedy Like for Likes and the historical drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, receiving an Excellence Award. In the year 2017, he starred in the film New Trial and the successful action comedy Midnight Runners. The same year, Ha-neul featured in the mystery thriller Forgotten.
In the year 2018, Kang co-starred in the military musical Shinheung Military Academy, earning a Best Actor nomination. In the year 2019, he returned to TV with When the Camellia Blooms, achieving high ratings and winning the Baeksang Arts Award for Best Actor – Television. He joined TH Company after leaving SEM Company in November 2019. In that year, he was ranked second in Gallup Korea’s Television Actor. He returned to theatre with Fantasy Tale in the year 2020. During that year, he was ranked 23rd in the annual list of Forbes Korea Power Celebrities. In 2021, Ha-neul starred in Waiting for Rain and the mystery thriller Streaming, centered around criminal profiling on YouTube.
In the year 2022, Ha-neul featured in the period adventure film The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure and the JTBC series “Insider”. He also starred in “Curtain Call”, winning the Top Excellence Actor Award at the 2022 KBS Drama Awards. Kang Ha-neul Military
Ha-neul has served in the South Korean mandatory military service. On September 11, 2017, was when he started his military service, at the Nonsan Korean Army Training Center. He completed basic training with excellence, and the ceremony recognizing his achievement happened on October 24, 2017. On February 22, 2019, Ha-neul became an honorary ambassador of the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) at a ceremony in Seoul. He took part in MMA events until December 2019. Ha-neul completed his military service and on May 23, 2019, he was discharged.
