Kara Coleman Career

Coleman serves WICU as an anchor of “Erie News Now Sunrise.”She joined the station in 2010 and has served the station for more than a decade. Prior to joining WICU-TV Erie News Now, she was serving at WCTI in Bern, North Carolina. In the course of her time there, she anchored the morning and noon shows.

She missed home while loving the charm of the South and the warm weather and came back in 2010. Coleman began her on-air career at WXVT in Greenville, Mississippi. She is thrilled to call Erie her home, be part of the Erie News Now team, and work there, (there’s no place like home!).

Coleman considers it as an advantage and responsibility to bring each everyday story that matters. She realized that an on-air career was a place she need to be after a college professor told her a good journalist is nosey and talkative… check, checks! During her free time, she likes running, reading (thanks, Book Club!), traveling, drinking coffee, cooking with her husband, as well as spending quality time with her family and friends. She serves as an advisory board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of NWPA and Hooked on Books for Kids Erie. In addition, she not only loves volunteering but also giving back to her community.
