She then became the Dayside reporter, a role she held until July 2022. When still serving as a Dayside reporter, she took the role of the weekend anchor and producer in May 2022. Katie served the role of weekend anchor and producer until July 2023 when she became the evening news anchor. While at WWTV, she has relayed information to viewers 5-6 times throughout the morning show. Katie has also covered current events, news, and issues within the community. In addition to this, crafted and refined scripts for weekend broadcasts to ensure engaging and informative content. She has also presented news stories to viewers in a professional, engaging, and clear manner.

Before joining WWTV, she served as a News Stringer for MacDonald/Garber Broadcasting from October 2018 to May 2020. While there, she wrote a record 30-45-second story that would be aired the next day on the morning show. Katie also covered events such as the Ingham County Board of Commissioners. Around the same time, she served as a campus tour guide at Michigan State University from April 2017 to May 2020. At the University, Katie gave perspective students a tour and answered their questions regarding campus life and academics.

Birecki previously served as Web Editor for the school newspaper for Mercy High School Farmington Hills from August 2015 to May 2016.
