The Emmy nomination was for KOCO-TV coverage of the Laverne tornado in the early 1990s.

Before joining KOCO, he was a student at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. He graduated from the university in the year 1982 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Communications. Among his favorite moments at KOCO, traveling to Houston with Michael Armstrong (Field Meteorologist) and Damon Lane (Chief Meteorologist) in First Alert Storm Command to provide coverage on Hurricane Harvey in the year 2017, is one of them. He calls talking with Houston people who lost everything and sharing their stories, a humbling experience. He says that the experience gave him a renewed appreciation for nature’s awesome power.
