A native of Winchester, Ricketts has always been curious about science, telling people since she was a young girl that she wanted to be a meteorologist. Ricketts served as chief meteorologist in Winchester at WHSV and also worked in Richmond at WRIC, in Washington at WTTG and WJLA, and in Baltimore at WMAR and WBFF. “
While at WHSV / TV3, Ricketts received national attention for her” Snowmeggedon “projection capabilities. Both the storm in December 2009 and the storm in February 2010 separately dumped more than 30” of snow on parts of the area, paralyzing the Mid-Atlantic.
She has had her hand in extreme weather forecasting from Hurricane Isabel in 2003 which left parts of Virginia in ruins (including her Richmond prediction area at the time) to the tornado outbreak on June 4, 2008, that impacted parts of the Shenandoah Valley and while in Washington, D.C. with many winter storms and summer storms.
