Some of her unforgettable stories include helping a boy who was randomly shot in the head while riding with his family, Antonio Reese, to get a van. After the shooting, he sustained a brain injury and spent months recuperating.
After her story aired, LEX18’s client saw it and offered to buy the family a van so that the family could go to Antonio’s numerous doctor appointments. The public also raised money so that the family could get a service dog. These small acts of kindness helped restore the family’s faith in society.
Searcy is honored to share and tell people’s stories. She aims her journalism work to be accurate, fair, and compassionate. Above all, she loves her job, the competitiveness, meeting people and animals, and getting to cover something different every day.
