Stokes serves at FOX 5 NY as an Evening News Anchor. She formerly served as a co-host for Good Day New York alongside Rosanna Scotto. Previously, she was working for WABC-TV for 17 years. There she served as co-anchor for “Eyewitness News This Morning”. Before that, she was serving at MSNBC/NBC as a reporter for “NBC Nightly News Weekend”, as well as an anchor for “Weekend Today Show” and “NBC Sunrise”. Before going to MSNBC, she served as a reporter at WJLA-TV, an ABC affiliate in Washington DC. Also, she anchored the evening newscasts at 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm.
Stokes holds the George P. Foster Peabody Award, which she received for her September 11, 2001 coverage of the World Trade Center attack. Also, for her civic service and her status as a positive role model, she holds the 2003 Congressional Black Caucus Celebration of Leadership Award. She has been recognized by The New York City Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence for her efforts in extensive community outreach.
An alumnus of both Ohio State University and Howard University, Stokes works for the International Spy Museum on the Governing Board of Directors. She is also a member of St. Joseph’s Regional Medical in Paterson, New Jersey, as well as the board of trustees at Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, New Jersey.
