Mickey Ferguson Career

Ferguson serves at WBRC as a lead weather forecaster for Good Day Alabama, every morning from Monday to Friday, from 4 am to 9 am. Working for WBRC has always been Ferguson since he started his career. He says that it took him 12 years to get to WBRC. Since Ferguson joined WBRC, a few things have changed. The program “Good Day Alabama” is now on for 5 hours each day from Monday to Friday, unlike before.

Ferguson began his TV career on October 21, 1987, at WJSU-TV in Anniston, Alabama, where he served as a news producer. There, he got his 1st shot at being on the air by doing morning news updates, after nobody wanted to be getting up and be on the station at 4:20 am. It was not long before he started working as an anchor and reporter for the weekend newscasts. He went to work for a local CBS affiliate, WBMG-TV in Birmingham, Alabama, in the year 1990, as an anchor for the weekend newscasts, as well as a weekday reporter.

After several years of TV, Ferguson made a decision of taking a break and try his hand at working in the family’s cabinet-making business. Unfortunately, it did not last long. TV had him firmly in its grip, so he went for an audition for a weekend weather job at an NBC Affiliate, WVTM-TV in Birmingham, Alabama, and his weather career was newly born. There, he again began doing morning cut-ins, but this time round he was delivering the weather forecast instead of news. From there, Ferguson moved to Montgomery, Alabama to work for an NBC Affiliate, WSFA-TV as a meteorologist and co-host of the local morning show. He spent 3 years there and now landed a job at WBRC ultimately, as a morning weather anchor.

Mickey Ferguson Apology

Maxwell Pearce, a member of the Harlem Globetrotters demanded an apology from anchor Clare Huddleston and Ferguson, for throwing him a banana in the middle of “Good Day Alabama.” The WBRC news director, Shannon Isbell, went on and apologized to him on air but Maxwell was not satisfied with it. However, Ferguson and Clare Huddleston came out by themselves and apologized to him.
