Mike Seidel (born Michael Phillip Seidel) is an American meteorologist working at The Weather Channel. He serves as the field weather reporter. He joined the station in March 1992.

For his recognition of his excellent service, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the geography and regional planning department at Salisbury State College in 1994.
In 1996, in recognition of his accomplishments after graduation, he was elected Centennial Fellow of The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State. In appreciation of his contribution from the meteorology department of Penn State, Seidel was also invited to join the Obelisk Society.

Seidel serves at The Weather Channel as a field weather reporter, covering breaking weather including severe weather, hurricanes, and snowstorms. Since joining the station, Seidel has been able “at a moment’s notice” to cover adverse weather including hurricanes to snowstorms on assignments.
He was the subject of numerous newspaper stories in the cities he visited, all with the theme, “If Seidel is in town, the weather will be awful.” In most situations, that’s real. Seidel, however, still has several non-extreme duties, such as the weekly coverage of NFL football, the Super Bowl, the PGA Tour, U.S. Open Tennis, NASCAR, the Indianapolis 500, and many other major events.
His 14- to 18-hour days in the field typically entail two forecasts for The Weather Channel every hour and also live reports for affiliates of major cities and NBC, including The Today Show,’ Brian Williams’ NBC Evening News, MSNBC, and CNBC. Seidel has appeared on The Early Show on CBS-TV, ‘The CBS Evening News’ and ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ and ‘Good Morning America’ ABC-TV, ‘World News Tonight, ‘Nightline’ and ‘World News Now along with CNN and Fox News Channel. He stood in for ‘Good Morning America’ by Tony Perkins ABC and The Today Show for Al Roker in New York City. During Tropical Storm Isaac in August 2012, Seidel became the first Weather Channel and U.S. meteorologist to broadcast live from Cuba.
Seidel started his television career at WMDT-TV in Salisbury in 1980 and worked on the Pennsylvania Public Television Network on Weather World while attending Penn State. His first full-time television role was with WYFF-TV in Greenville, SC, where he worked from 1983 to 1989. As chief meteorologist at WBOC-TV, he returned to Salisbury in 1989, where he worked before joining The Weather Channel.
