Watt serves at CNN as a news reporter based in Los Angeles, California. He is also an occasional news anchor for CNN International. Before joining CNN, he served as a producer and later on as a correspondent for ABC for twenty years. Some of his recent work includes the Trump administration’s battles with the Golden State, border issues, wildfires, and an investigation into horse deaths on Californian race tracks.
For some time, he was based in London, also with ABC. He did report extensively from Iraq and Afghanistan. Two Emmy awards have been awarded for his work, the first one was for serving as a producer in Darfur, Sudan, and the second one for “Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story” for his reporting in 2004, from Fallujah.
His career in journalism began at the Southampton Press newspaper in New York where he served as a reporter. In 1997, was when he joined ABC’s London bureau and served as a tape librarian and as a desk assistant. When coming to his education, he attended the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where he earned a master’s degree in modern history.
