From 2000 through 2010, the Barrington native and two-time Associated Press Award-winning sportscaster worked as the sports director at WPRI 12. Patrick joined the 12 News team as a weekend sports anchor in June 1998. On January 1, 2000, Patrick earned a promotion to sports director at WPRI.
He spent four years as a producer, reporter, and anchor at WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire, before returning to Rhode Island.“Being able to come back to RI and work in the state I grew up in was a dream come true,” says Little, a 1994 graduate of St Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.
While interning at the Providence Journal in high school, he got his first experience with the media. “I had to interview Deion Sanders while covering a PawSox–Columbus Clippers game! I knew within five minutes with him that this was what I needed to do for a living!”
The 1990 Providence Country Day School alumnus values being involved in the community where he grew up. Patrick is on the advisory board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island and participates in annual fundraisers for Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Meeting Street School, and Special Olympics Rhode Island.
He’s also involved with Butler Hospital’s research and fundraising efforts, which care for both children and adults with mental diseases, substance misuse, and addiction. Patrick also volunteers with the Newport County Youth Hockey Organization, King Phillip Little League, and Portsmouth Youth Lacrosse as a coach and mentor.
For his dedication to covering local high school athletics, Rhode Island High School Athletic Directors Association selected him as sportscaster of the year in 2008. Patrick has covered two Red Sox World Series championships, four Super Bowls, three NCAA basketball tournaments, three Daytona 500s, both the women’s and men’s US Open golf tournaments, and the Ryder Cup in the last decade.
