She says that she is very happy to call Knoxville her home and she feels incredibly grateful and honored for an amazing chance to work at WBIR-TV. Before joining WBIR-TV, Sweet worked for WDAY TV in Fargo, North Dakota for about 5 years (May 2011 – March 2015). There she served as a weather anchor (most recently) and Newsroom Assistant (first role). She was in college while working at WDAY-TV. At WDAY-TV, she and her colleagues used to say “you betcha and ufduh”, and even nowadays (sometimes) she even use these words on the air.
It all began back in elementary school when she was chosen to be the weather kid for a local TV station in Bismarck, North Dakota. From the very 1st time Sweet stepped onto the set, she knew that she wanted to pursue this type of job when she grew up. She says that being in front of the camera and talking about the weather fascinated her, and she found it exciting to be part of the news broadcast.
At WDAY-TV, she reported on a wide range of weather events like scorching hot days reaching 100 that often led to thunderstorms with golf ball-sized hail at night, days with wind chills as low as 40 below 0, and white-out blizzards. Sweet says that she is eager to cover the diverse and challenging weather patterns of East Tennessee.
