After graduating, he started serving as Wacky Weather Guy on KUWB30, Utah’s WB. Rich became Movie Preview Guy when KUWB30 combined with CW30, but only for a short time; CW30 shortly amalgamated with KUTV, and Rich was promoted to Promotions Guy. Rich began writing film reviews for the CW website while still working on movie previews.
He returned to be the Movie Guy for Salt Lake Magazine and The Standard-Examiner after a brief career in corporate video and became a member of the Utah Film Critics Association. Now he’s That Guy, film criticizing for KSTU and Entertainment Reporting for FOX13’s morning show, Good Day Utah, six days a week.
