Before that, he worked for WMTW-TV in Poland Spring, Maine as a Sports Reporter/Anchor for 3 years and 10 months (August 2003 – May 2007). He has also worked as a sports anchor/reporter for WVII/WFVX in Bangor, Maine for 1 year and 2 months (July 2002 – August 2003).
When it comes to his education, Welch attended Boston College in the year 1996 and graduated 4 years later with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. He then enrolled at Syracuse University the same year and graduated the following year (2001) with a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.
While at Boston College, he worked for the school’s radio station, calling for hockey games. He made the decision of pursuing a career in sportscasting from his experience there on the radio. He is thrilled to be able to put his storytelling talents to use for sports, especially shining lights on people or teams that do not normally get the attention they deserve. During his leisure, he likes listening to Steely Dan’s rock music, reading Kurt Vonnegut books, and watching the show “Seinfeld”. Also, he enjoys rooting for the BC Eagles in his spare time.
