During the Pulse nightclub massacre, she spent 36 hours on the ground; covered the death of Little Havana’s former Prime Minister Fidel Castro; led live team coverage during the shooting at Fort Lauderdale Airport; monitored the wobble of Hurricane Matthew; anchored wall-to-wall coverage during Hurricane Irma; and traveled to the Keys to assess the damage left behind by the storm’s eye.

When coming to her education, Sanika graduated from downtown Orlando’s Lake Highland Preparatory School. She is a proud graduate of the University of Florida. Outside the newsroom, Sanika is trying to figure out how quickly her hometown has evolved since the last time she lived here!
