He covered current events in Iraq, Turkey, and Lebanon, as well as the Arab Spring in Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia. In 2014, he won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Reporting for his coverage of Syria.
For his documentary storytelling and investigative journalism, he has been nominated for a Gemini Award and has received accolades from the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTDNA) and the Canadian Association of Journalists.
His stories have led him to every continent as a senior journalist. Petricic was the first CBC correspondent to report from Antarctica in 2006.
