Sean claims that journalism has always piqued his attention. He worked as an editorial assistant at “The Australian Financial Review” while in college. Sean worked for three years as a writer for an Australian comedy news show after college. He came to Alaska with the intention of spending the summer exploring due to his passion for the outdoors. That summer has now lasted five years and is still going strong.

Sean lived in Willow for two of those years, volunteering at a state park, working as a substitute teacher, leading the Youth Conservation Corps in Talkeetna, and even working as a dog handler for two winters. Sean learned to mush and even assisted with the training of a puppy team for the 2017 Iditarod, an opportunity to spend many hours on the back of a dog sled going through the Alaskan tundra.

Maguire began working for KTUU in 2017 as a newscast producer before becoming a full-time general assignment reporter and multimedia journalist.
