Steve Smith Career
Smith serves at KGTV 10 News as a sports anchor. He has worked as a one-man-band reporter (Multimedia Journalist) and sports producer at the station. Smith says that working for KGTV is his dream come true since he always wanted to work there since he was young.
Before joining KGTV, he served at WWMT in Kalamazoo, Michigan as a Weekend Sports Anchor. While there, he had the opportunity to report on Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Michigan athletics. A year and a half later after college, he got his very 1st broadcasting job as the Sports Director at KAWE-TV in Bemidji, Minnesota. That was the 1st time he had ever been in really cold weather. One year later, he moved to KRCR-TV in Redding, California, where he worked as a Weekend Sports Anchor. From there, he now joined WWMT, and finally KGTV.
When he was young, Smith thought he might become a professional athlete, but his body wasn’t built for it. In high school (as a senior), Smith was the only child with 135 pounds on the football crew, and even in the whole Grossmont League, and surprisingly, he never got hurt (it’s hard for one to get hurt when she/he is mostly on the sidelines). In college (as a senior), he got an award from the Associated Press for a story about “Sports Bars,” which is a bit funny because he only got a “B” for that story in class. Right after college, Smith got a job at Fox Sports News in Los Angeles, where he worked as a Production Assistant.
When it comes to his education, he is a proud alumnus of Granite Hills High School and California State University in Northridge. He graduated from the university with a degree in Journalism. During his spare time, he likes spending time with his friends and family or cheering for his favorite sports teams: The Chargers and The Padres.
