Capps is a proud alumnus of The University of Oklahoma, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology with minors in Broadcast Meteorology and Mathematics in May 2017.
During her time in college, Capps worked for the student-run newscast, OU Nightly, as the weather anchor. She and the OU Nightly won a student Emmy Award for the best newscast during her senior year.

She says that she is fortunate to work alongside the No. 1 weather team on FOX 4. Before joining the station, she worked for KXXV in Waco, Texas, as a weekend morning meteorologist.
Less than two months after joining KXXV, Hurricane Harvey struck the Texas coast. When the outer bands swept across central Texas, she was tasked with covering numerous tornado warnings and overnight flooding threats for our southeastern counties. Capps experienced “Texas” ice storms while in Waco.
Capps told her parents that she aspired to become a meteorologist in Dallas when she was 8 years old. Growing up, she got hooked on the broadcast meteorologists that they always watched during severe weather outbreaks.
Capps was always watching weather channels on television, with a weather radio in hand, in case of power loss. She says that at the time, she always made sure that he parents and siblings knew their severe weather safety plan, even if the forecast called for a slight chance of rain.
