Shields serves at WFTV as a Meteorologist. His forecasts are seen from Monday to Friday on Eyewitness News Daybreak and at noon. He has been passionate about weather since he was young. When he was 5 years old, he used to provide forecasts with a chalkboard. At Villanova University, he teamed up with his professor and published 2 studies on hurricanes as well as the impact they bring on increased precipitation in the Eastern United States.
Shields began his career as a meteorologist and reporter at the ABC affiliate, WMDT in Salisbury, Maryland. From there, he went to work for the ABC affiliate, WCHS-TV in Charleston, West Virginia as a meteorologist. He is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist through the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The National Weather Association (NWA) has also honored him with their Seal of Approval for weather casting. Shields formerly served on the board of the Orlando Science Center. However, he continues to partner with them on special projects only.
Other than working as a journalist, Shields has been working as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, Florida since February 2022. During his leisure, he likes rooting for the New York Yankees and Villanova Wildcats. He is a huge fan of college basketball.
