Prior to joining The Weather Channel, Bruin worked as the KIFI-Local News 8 Morning Meteorologist, which includes East Idaho and Western Wyoming affiliates of ABC, CBS, and Fox and serves Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Jackson Hole hub cities.
Bruin has covered wildfires, intense heat waves, hurricane-force winds, flash floods, serious thunderstorms, strong snowstorms, avalanches, and dangerously cold conditions through his forecasting expertise in the Northern Rockies. As a Broadcast Forecaster at WFSU-TV, Bruin started his weather ride.
He would be captivated by the summer thunderstorms that would spring up every day during the afternoons, like clockwork. It would cause him to further research even the occasional cold fronts that would make it all the way through South Florida. He would also map how frequently each winter in his hometown the temperature would drop below 60 °.
Bruin has reported some very historic disasters right off the bat, including some of the most notable storms, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Florence & Michael, during his young career at The Weather Channel. In 2017, Bruin also taught audiences through his Total Solar Eclipse coverage and extreme winter storms, including the Bomb Cyclone in the Plains during the winter season of 2018-2019, where winds gusted above 80 mph in Rapid City, SD for hours on end. When coming to his education, Bruin earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology from Florida State University in 2014, as interested as he was in the weather and a desire to pursue a career in the field.
