Wire serves at CNN as a sports anchor and correspondent. He anchors daily Bleacher Report segments covering events and serves as an expert contributor across all platforms. Additionally, he appears on CNN’s programs such as CNN Newsroom, New Day, and Early Start. Furthermore, he contributes to CNN’s International’s World Sport program and to CNN Digital on a broad range of crossover sports stories.
Some of his many field assignments include; the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, Super Bowls 50 and 53, the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the annual Army-Navy football game. Being a former college and pro athlete has enabled him to bring insider experiences, credibility, and contacts to his new role, and insight. Before joining CNN, he was a professional football player in the National Football League.
When coming to his education, he attended and graduated from Stanford University where he was the first player in modern school history to lead the team in rushing one year and tackles in another. In 2002, the Buffalo Bills drafted him into the NFL.
Later on, he was to be team captain for both the Atlanta Falcons and the Bills during his career which was for a span of nine years. Furthermore, during his career, he was awarded the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, Special Teams Player of the Year honors during his career, and the Ed Block Courage Award.
He authored and published 2012, an inspirational book ‘ Change Your Mind’ when his career as a backdrop. During his free time, he loves cheering on his Keystone State sports teams in addition to the Falcons, Nerd Nation, the Stanford Cardinal, and the Bills.
