Before joining CNN, she worked in Denver for 9NEWS. While in the station she served as an anchor and reporter covering many stories. Additionally, for her reporting on President Gerald Ford’s plan to rescue thousands of children from war-torn Vietnam in 1975, and the anniversary and the chance meeting of two survivors of a plane crash during Operation Babylift, she was awarded a Heartland Chapter Emmy Award.

Her career as a journalist began at WJLA/NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C. where she served as a multimedia journalist.  While she worked at WJLA/NewsChannel 8, her reportings prompted the United States Marshals to arrest a child sex predator.
