She is committed to holding the government accountable and advocating for those who are unable to advocate for themselves. Several organizations have honored her work, including the UNIFOR Southern Ontario News Media Guild award for Labor Journalism, four Edward R. Murrow awards for Investigative Journalism, an RTDNA Canada medal for investigative journalism, and other team awards.

Her work with a woman who had a mastectomy by mistake influenced provincial health-care policy and resulted in the provincial oversight of a large hospital. She’s been embedded with Canadian forces in the Mojave desert, tracking down a suspected terrorist in Libya.

She is a member of the Queen’s Park press gallery and currently works for CityTV’s documentary section as an investigative producer, reporter, and host.

Christina Howorun Kidney Transplant

Howorun was diagnosed with end-stage kidney illness in 2018 and openly revealed her diagnosis and experience. While enduring daily dialysis, she continued to report on the radio.

Her cousin donated one of her kidneys in June 2019, sparing her life. Howorun filmed much of the transplant procedure for viewers and returned to the broadcast a few months later.
