Garrett Haake Career
He attended Klein High School where he graduated in 2003. Later on, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Southern Methodist University. In 2008, was when his career in journalism began at NBC Nightly News where he served as a desk assistant. He served as a fill-in anchor and reporter at KSHB-TV in addition to joining MSNBC. While he was at KSHB-TV, he covered everything from weather, scandals, crime, and politics
He traveled to Kandahar where he gave a report and an hour-long documentary on the end of United States involvement in the war in Afghanistan in the fall of 2014. NBC News had embedded him on the 2012 presidential campaign before he joined KSHB-TV. He reported from roughly 36 states, 2012 for 18 months, and covered the Mitt Romney presidential campaign.
For his environmental and documentary reporting, he was awarded two regional Emmy awards. While reporting from Washington, D.C, he could be heard cursing after being hit with what he said was a projectile of some sort, such as a rubber bullet during protests near the White House caused by the death of George Floyd, on May 31, 2020.
