Slater joined the WNYT team in March 2018 and departed in December 2021. She started her on-air career as a WCTV reporter in Tallahassee, FL. She also worked for stations in Rhode Island, KTVA in Alaska, and her home state of Connecticut, where she worked for WTNH News 8.

Jacquie covered the shooting of the Sandy Hook school in Connecticut and led her station to cover the ongoing drug crisis. In Alaska, in the summer of 2015, she spent two weeks covering the wildfire outbreak on the path. She loves that her work enables her to meet new people every day and is proud to share their stories when they trust her.

Before venturing into the mainstream, Jacquie worked for many years as a designer for Ethan Allen and Lillian August in the interior design industry. She also worked in restaurant management and at one point owned an inn in Chester, VT. Feeling like life was pulling her in a different direction, she attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and found her true calling.
