Previously, Hodell served WTAJ in Altoona, Pennsylvania, as a morning meteorologist from March 1998 to August 2003. He also produced and anchored the weather on weekday morning and noon news. Before that role, he served the station as a weekend meteorologist and reporter. In this role, he produced and presented weekend morning and evening weather broadcasts.
While in Altoona, Hodell covered general assignment stories, such as court trials, spot news such as fires and crashes, politics, community-oriented and human-interest stories. He started his career in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he served WJET-TV as a reporter.
