Conklin’s work includes coverage of the aftermath and recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the return to space of John Glenn, and live coverage of the trip to China of a Toledo business delegation, led by former mayor Mike Bell. He has also announced and anchored coverage of several political campaigns.
In the Detroit suburb of St. Clair Shores, Conklin was a star baseball player at high school, where his performance won him a spot in the hall of fame of the school. He is also an excellent athlete, golfer, and basketball player, not to mention a sports junkie. His competitiveness has helped make him one of the most committed and valued news anchors in Toledo.
Conklin attended the inauguration of President Bush and made two trips to New Orleans and neighboring regions to report on the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. During the crane collapse on the I-280 bridge that killed four iron employees, he reported live from the scene, and he was on hand for the recent memorial service involving the Bluffton baseball team.
Conklin is a big fan of the Tigers. Not only was he an excellent high school baseball player, but he was also the basketball team’s MVP, and he ran cross country as well. When coming to his education, he is a grad of South Lake High School and the University of Michigan. He is a strong University of Michigan’s football supporter.
