Rebecca Schleicher Education
Schleicher joined the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 when she finished her high school education. In 2010, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast News and Government. There, she was the vice president of the Alpha Epsilon Phi and a reporter for Texas Student Television She was a cheerleader for the Horns and won the Texas Cheer: Rookie of the Year Award. In 2009, she took a semester to study abroad in Tel Aviv, Israel.

During her Nashville career, Schleicher covered every aspect of the huge Transportation Plan and the 2018 voter referendum. She filled in on the anchor desk during two major news events including the ruinous March 3, 2020 tornado outbreak that made a 60-mile scar all over Middle Tennessee and the Christmas Day 2020 downtown Nashville bombing. Her anchoring on those days earned her three Emmys.
In 2022, Schleicher was named as the new 9 a.m. newscast anchor. Before her time in Middle Tennessee, she worked in Oklahoma City as a reporter and fill-in anchor on FOX 25. There, she spent most of her time chasing tornadoes and broadcasting the ins and outs of a growing community.
Schleicher led a report series on long-tainted water that led to many health problems for people in the surrounding communities. In this role, she went to the EPA for answers on why it was taking so long to clean up the mess. She worked in Waco, Texas at KCEN before working in Oklahoma City. In Waco, she reported about a sheriff who was accused of sexual harassment. As a result, an election was conducted where citizens voted him out of office.
Aside from journalism, Schleicher volunteers with many community food drives and the Nashville Rescue Mission. She also works as a volunteer coordinator with Hands on Nashville. Further, she visits as many elementary schools as she can to be a guest reader and helps teach Sunday School at The Temple. Additionally, she has worked as an MC for many charity occasions, helping with as many local causes as she can.
