McCranie says that one thing that he cannot forget about Florida was when he was flooded out of our home during the “No Name Storm of 1993.”
Before joining WFTV, he worked for the severe weather capital of the world, KOCO-TV in Oklahoma as a Weekend Evening Meteorologist for 6 and half years. There he kept viewers informed of various weather events from large hail storms to floods to EF5 tornadoes to blizzards. Before going to KOCO, he served at KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, Missouri as a Chief Meteorologist for 2 years.
McCranie has worked for WDHN-TV in Dothan, Alabama as a Chief Meteorologist for 1 year. He has also worked for Capital News 9 in Albany, New York as a Meteorologist. Additionally, McCranie has worked as a meteorologist for WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi (for 3 years), and for WDTV-TV in Clarksburg, West Virginia (for 1 year).
McCranie is a member (affiliate) of the American Meteorological Society, which has honored him with the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal.
