At WHNT News 19, Johnson is celebrating a major milestone: 40 years! On May 2, 1977, Steve began working in the sports department. Steve spent 23 years in the sports department. He changed jobs and became a special assignment reporter in 1999. He began anchoring WHNT News 19 This Morning after a few months of weekend evening anchoring. Steve has interviewed sports stars such as Bear Bryant, Richard Petty, and Dale Earnhardt during his tenure at WHNT.
