She became very familiar with weather phenomena, such as lake effect snow, while predicting weather there, which helped her land her next job as a weekend meteorologist for WJET / WFXP in Erie, Pa. During Draper’s first year there, Erie experienced its second snowiest winter on record. She joined the morning shift at WIVB-WNLO in Buffalo from there.
When coming to her education, she is a grad of Penn State University where she studied meteorology. She eventually graduated early from college so that she could start living. From her high school job as a snowboard instructor at the Whitetail Ski Resort to playing field hockey and lacrosse teams to her current hobbies, including yoga, golf, and running, fitness is a huge part of Draper’s life.
As a member of Washington’s number-one weather team, the chance to be closer to family and friends took her back to the Washington area. She brings vast experience that includes snowy winters, summer heat, and spring storms. Draper is a native of Frederick, Md., who decided to predict the weather in Washington, D.C.
