Tolbart serves at FOX 5 DC as a Meteorologist. Since Tolbart joined the station, she has earned 3 Associated Press awards, as well as 5 Emmy nominations. Previously, she was in Dallas, Texas, working for KTVT CBS-11 as a Feature Reporter, as well as Weather Anchor. Also, she hosted “Positively Texas”, a Live audience talk show. While at KTVT, she won three awards; the “2000 Media Person Of the Year” award, 5 National Association of Black Journalists Broadcasting Awards, and a Weather Team Emmy Award.

During her time at CBS, she mentored elementary school children, whereby she set up mentor workshops and programs for single teen moms, as well as at-risk girls. She was recognized by the National Association of Black Journalists with the prestigious “National Community Service Award” (NABJ) and featured in Jet Magazine. Also, in the year 2002, she was honored with a “Woman of Distinction Award” with official commendations from the United States Congress, Texas State Representative, and the Governor of Texas. In the year 2002, Tolbart got official recognition by the Nova Scotia House of Assembly – Government of Canada. This was for her community service and career achievements.

Tolbart got her start in her hometown, Montreal, Quebec, where she worked for the Black Community Communications Media as a Producer/Host of “Black Is,” a news magazine program. Also, she contributed to the radio show, “Black Speaks.” During her tenure in Montreal, she had projects, and one of them was hosting a mentoring program for adolescent inner-city girls, “Positive Images.” She arranged for the girls to meet Coretta Scott King.

From there, she moved to Canada’s nationally-aired “Weather Network”, where she held positions of News/Weather Anchor. There, she also hosted “Travel, Travel”, an award-winning and internationally syndicated travel show, and served as a reporter on the consumer advocacy program “Fighting Back.” Additionally, she served as CTV’s Montreal CFCF-12 as a Weather Anchor. Later on, she now moved to KTVT, then finally to FOX 5 DC. 

Tolbart has been on the Board of a residential program for at-risk adolescent males, “Our House”  in Olney, Maryland for 14 years. There, she was the coordinator of programs and raising major funds for a new dorm. In Washington, she has been on the Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 

Tolbart holds various awards, which she received since being in Washington. The Empower Program (serving teen girls) has awarded her the “2004 Voices Against Violence Award”. The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. voted her “2005 Woman Of The Year”. She holds the “2009 New Endeavors By Women Volunteer Award” for serving homeless women. The Daily Record voted her one of the “2014 Top 100 Women In the State of Maryland”. Com-fort Cases (serving foster children) awarded her “Champion Of the Year Award” in the year 2018.  Tolbart is lucky to have been recognized by President Obama’s “Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service.”

Other than her work as a meteorologist, she works as an Emcee, Keynote and Motivational Speaker, Speaking Coach, and Seminar Leader. She also owns a professional speaking business “Tolbart Talks”. She is a National Speaker’s Association (NSA) member. Formerly, she served as a Board Member of the D.C. NSA Chapter, where she was First Runner-Up in the “NSA USA National Keynote Speaking Competition.”
