While in Greenville, Lewis broadcast forecasted numerous historic weather events, including Hurricane Helene, which devastated the Carolinas in 2024 and brought historic flooding and some of the highest winds ever recorded. Also, she participated in a 30-mile day hike three successive years, benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Moreover, she continued being involved with the Mothers Against Drunk Driving organization, where she has volunteered for off and on for over 20 years.
Lewis moved to Greenville from Seattle, Washington, where she spent twelve years doing weather and working on a regional crime show. While there, she learned more about microclimates and how mountains, seas, and lowlands connect just a few miles from each other to change the forecast.
Parella spent time during the notorious “Race Day” tornado outbreak that disrupted the 88th running of the Indy 500 at the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was on the air. As she offered wall-to-wall coverage during that historic incident, fifteen tornadoes touched down.
While in Seattle, she worked on the King County Search and Rescue advisory board, was co-chair of Teen Choice, an organization founded to give children in trouble a second chance while in Louisiana, and was awarded the prestigious Blue Knight Award in Little Rock by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Parella started her career in Louisiana while she was still in college. She experienced everything there, from hurricanes to floods and a lot of extreme heat! Needless to say, she loves the weather and the various forms it takes and enjoys keeping viewers posted.
