He also serves as the leading staff of 5 meteorologists who are all American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologists. Before the station, he served at WXII-TV in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as a Chief Meteorologist for 4 years (January 1986 – January 1990). Before that, he worked as a meteorologist at WGME-TV in Portland, Maine for 1 year (January 1985 – December 1985).

Dellegatto started his meteorology career at a private weather company in Ithaca, New York, where he prepared client weather forecasts. He later then went on to take a similar position at one of the country’s top private forecasting companies, Weather Services Corporation. There he assisted in developing Today’s familiar color weather page. The Boston Red Sox, public works departments across the northeast, and over fifty radio stations in the nation were among the clients Dellegatto provided meteorological information for. 

In FOX 13, Dellegatto serves as the longest-tenured chief meteorologist. He took the position of chief meteorologist when legendary meteorologist Roy Leep retired in the year 1997. He continues FOX 13’s legacy of being a weather pioneer and among the top TV weather departments across the nation. Dellegatto was the 1st meteorologist in the nation to show the various spaghetti models illustrating the complexity of tracking tropical systems.

FOX 13 -WTVT continued to be a weather innovator under Dellegatto’s leadership by adding ultra-high resolution satellite pictures utilizing McIDAS HD. FOX 13 is the only TV station in the nation that receives pictures of the satellite directly from space through its earth tracking station. Dellegatto’s weather passion is tropical meteorology and severe weather. During his leisure, he likes to visit civic groups and schools, where he talks about the fascinating science of meteorology.
