When he created and hosted his own public affairs talk show on the government access station in Troy, MI, Raj started his TV career at the age of 14. He was hired at CBS in Lansing, MI, and from there made stops at several stations in Michigan before going to New Orleans, LA. Raj covered 24 hurricanes and tropical storms, including Katrina, as a morning anchor at the NBC station.
He was then hired in Flint, Mich. to anchor the news, where he had been doing news and weather for four years. That was followed by NBC in New Orleans for seven years. He loved the people there. The weather couldn’t stand him. Heat and moisture are not his business. He relocated to Detroit in ’09 after 24 hurricanes, including Katrina, where an economic storm was brewing. He is an avid believer in the future of the region.
