Following the deadly mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Kuperstein was one of the first Tri-State TV reporters to arrive in Parkland, Florida, and provide live updates. He moved later to Washington, D.C. To provide the huge “March for our Lives” rally with live coverage.
Kuperstein traveled to Steel City in the wake of the October 2018 shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh and offered several days of live updates on the police response and community impact. He also covered the official memorial service of the town and interviewed various religious and political figures representing the Tri-State region. Kuperstein has also provided lead analysis for NBC 4 New York viewers on a variety of other high-profile stories, including Hurricane Irma, the deadly Trump Tower inferno, and the 2018 elections.
Prior to joining NBC 4 New York, Kuperstein worked for more than a decade as a weekday news and sports anchor for NBC 6 / WTVJ. Kuperstein covered numerous big news stories concerning South Florida during his tenure on NBC 6, including several presidential elections and the 2012 Lynn University Presidential Debate. He also led the sports coverage of NBC 6 and reported on three NBA championships from the 2016 Rio Olympics, in addition to covering the Miami Heat. In 2017, Kuperstein led NBC 6’s coverage at Marlins Park of the 2017 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Kuperstein was the weekend sports anchor for Fox affiliate WUPW-TV in Toledo, Ohio, before settling in South Florida. He also worked as a weekend sports anchor in Zanesville, Ohio, for WHIZ-TV, the NBC affiliate. When coming to his education, Kuperstein graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Affairs of Syracuse University and earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Finance.
