Hines Ward Career
He is based in his home town Atlanta which is CNN’s headquarters. He is the trophy winner of Dancing with the Stars Mirrorball and The Super Bowl MVP. He recently became the Director of Football Operations and Player Development for the new Alliance of America Football League (AAF) which debuts in February 2019. The new league of NFL will begin with 8 teams in 8 different regions of the United States will be spearheaded by Ward along with Justin Tuck, Troy Polomalu, and other notable former NFL athletes and coaches. The AAF will be built around greater player safety, fan interaction at all phases of the game, and diversity in personnel. It is designed to be a complimentary league to the NFL.
His journalism career began in NBC where he worked as an analyst for NBC’s Sunday primetime NFL show, Football Night in America from 2012 to 2015. Additionally, he also co-hosts The Hines Ward Show alongside Michael O’Neal who is the founder and host of The Solopreneur Hour an award-winning entertainment and business podcast.
In the 1998 NFL Draft, he was the third-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he remained with Pittsburgh all 14 seasons of his career, making him the longest-tenured wide receiver with the same team in the NFL. Furthermore, he was the team’s all-time receiving yardage, touchdown receptions, and leader in receptions.
He attended the University of Georgia where he played football and also was a top scholar-athlete. In his senior year, he earned All-SEC honors and completed college as Georgia’s second all-time receiver with 144 receptions.
Seoul is his native home. Due to his mixed-race, is an advocate for the social acceptance of foreigners in Korea, especially mixed-race youth. The Helping Hands Foundation in the United States and Korea was founded and is being operated by him. Furthermore, he actively leads his personal charities, Positive Athlete Atlanta, a movement that ties high-character professional athletes to celebrate young athletes who have overcome difficult circumstances or made positive contributions to their schools and communities, and Positive Athlete Pittsburgh.
